#SmallBiz Marketing Checklist for the Holidays

Take Your Business to the Next Level This Holiday Season

Today, and for the next ten days, we’re challenging you to take our Holiday Marketing Challenge. We’ll help you take your business to the next level this holiday season by giving you new ways to engage customers, promote products and services, and get in the holiday spirit!

Holiday Marketing Day Five: Photo Contest

In case you haven’t got the picture, we’re all about engaging customers on social channels. We’ve talked about Facebook conversations on Day Three. Today, we’re focusing on a specific strategy: the photo contest. On Day Three, we talked about holding a Caption Contest and suggested you take a still photograph from your favorite holiday movie. Expanding on this idea: take a picture of you and your employees in a funny pose or facial expression. Customers will enjoy seeing a business owner acting personable. It will make you and your business appear down to earth and reliaable; someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Here are a few ideas:

Digital Ugly Sweater

Hopefully, you saw the picture we posted of Matt Damon sporting his ugly Christmas sweater. This party is quickly becoming a beloved holiday favorite. But not everyone can make it to your store in person. Take the tradition digital! After you do a few caption contests, try a digital ugly sweater contest! You can let customers vote on your Facebook page, which will increase shares, comments, and likes. If your company doesn’t have an Instagram account, make one and use this contest for its launch! Post the winner on facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and have them take a picture of themselves wearing the Ugly Sweater and holding a store coupon, or whatever prize you decide to give away.

Thanksgiving Feast Contest

Have customers take pictures of their Thanksgiving feasts and vote on which one looks the tastiest. And while you’re at it, start a conversation on facebook about what you’re thankful for and ask customers to post along. And speaking of delicious food…

Holiday Recipe Photo

Have customers post a photo of their favorite holiday recipes along with the recipe itself for everyone to share!

Fill in the Blank

Post a “Dear Santa” letter and ask customers to fill in the blank of what they would like for Christmas. This is a good way to help other independent shops in your community. For instance, someone might post they want a watch. You might know a local jeweler and be able to refer them. You might want to consider setting up a referral agreement with other businesses in your area!

Photo Boosting App

If you really want to kick your photo sharing up a notch, check out this neat app.

Best of luck on your photo contests! Send 3V picture of the contests you have for your #HolidayMarketingChallenge.
