Today, and for the next seven days, we’re challenging you to take our Holiday Marketing Challenge. We’ll help you take your business to the next level this holiday season by giving you new ways to engage customers, promote products and services, and get in the holiday spirit!
On the first day of our #HolidayMarketingChallenge, we asked you to take your logo festive. That was a warm-up. Now it’s time to take your website and social media festive! We challenge you to add digital holiday bling to your site!
Not everyone can make it to your brick and mortar store this season, especially if they live out of state. Decorating your digital store allows online customers to feel the same sense of welcome that passersby in the street should feel. Using free backgrounds, themes, and photos will add an easy glimmer of the holidays without costing you a penny. And as always, holiday decorations will make you and your business seem more personable.
Change your twitter profile pics to be more Thanksgiving or Christmas related! You can add a larger picture, like a night in a small-town, as your header photo–that’s the large one that goes across the top. Your profile photo is the one that appears with your username when someone searches for you. Keep this image simple, as it won’t be as large as the header.
Like Twitter, Facebook uses two types of photos also. The larger photo that covers the top of your profile is the cover photo. Use this photo for a larger picture, maybe one of your holiday store front or one of the first snow of the year taken from outside your store. The smaller photo, your profile photo, should be used for something smaller.
Now that your logo, website, and social media are tuned in for the holidays, it’s time to send out holiday ad campaigns! Start with a holiday themed post until you’re ready to make a paid-ad. Advertise specials or coupons you’re having for the holiday season! Tweet about new products you have in the store. Just make sure you relate it to the holiday season.
For instance, if you sell electronics, you might post something like, “The Pilgrims had trouble finding the New World. With this GPS, you’ll have no trouble finding your way to Thanksgiving.” Or a heating/cooling company might post something like, “The only thing worse than the Grinch on Christmas is no heat.” Create and festive ways to advertise your products will make customers more inclined to share and comment and thus help spread the word of your products!
Best of luck on your website and social media! Send us photos of how you rise to the #HolidayMarketingChallenge. See you tomorrow!
