Holiday Marketing Challenge Day 13: Gift Wrapping Station

15 Days to Ramp It Up

#Small Biz Marketing Checklist for the Holidays

Take Your Business to the Next Level This Holiday Season

Today, and for the next two days, we’re challenging you to take our Holiday Marketing Challenge. We’ll help you take your business to the next level this holiday season by giving you new ways to engage customers, promote products and services, and get in the holiday spirit!

Holiday Marketing Challenge Day Thirteen: Gift Wrapping Station

This one is an oldie but a goodie. It’s harder and harder to find a company that gift wraps during the holidays. Corporations are so worried about saving a dollar they’ll sacrifice the little things that make a shopping trip extra special. That’s why for Day Thirteen, we challenge you to set up a gift wrapping station.

Keep It Simple

We realize gift wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, and tape can be expensive. Stick with three different varieties of paper so your customers have choices but your wallet won’t break. You can find gift wrapping supplies at your local dollar store. You may want to consider starting up the station with affordable supplies and see how it takes off before spending lots of money on paper from a drugstore or big box store. Gift bags are inexpensive and also more eco-friendly since they can be used over and over again. Unless you sell large scale items that would require a box and paper, gift bags are a good way to start.

Designate a Space

If you have limited counter space, set up a temporary gift wrapping station. Collapsible tables work great! This will prevent congestion at the register and keep your lines short.your-death-will-be-slow-and-painful

Time Is Money – Adding Value to the Consumer Experience

Customers will appreciate that you went the extra mile to provide them service. You’re saving them time and money. They won’t have to take time out of their day to wrap it themselves and they’ll avoid the panic on Christmas Eve when they realize they forgot to wrap everything.

Personalized Note – Loyalty and Appreciation Marketing

This is useful for all businesses but especially so for companies that don’t have a product to gift wrap. How would you gift wrap a new furnace? Print up a small note of thanks and include it with the gift wrapping. Keep it simple like, “On behalf of myself and the employees of *name of company* we want to thank you for shopping local and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.” Customers will feel good knowing they’re helping the local economy.
